Listen, Europe! (2026- ongoing)

LISTEN, EUROPE! is a collaborative performance artwork and tactical radio intervention in collaboration with The Bureau for Listening. The project remediates Thomas Mann’s “Deutsche Hörer!” (“Listen, Germany!”) anti-fascist BBC broadcasts during WWII (Mann, 2025) and will be broadcast as a series of radio programs in late 2027.
The project addresses the rise of contemporary fascism to intervene in Western hegemonic power relations and will remix archival audio from Listen, Germany! juxtaposed with historical colonial and state broadcasts; experimental soundscapes, compositions and field recordings taken from places of political tension, including state borders, protests, and political responses to migration. There will be conversations with decolonial thinkers, activists, and artists, reframing the current European political landscape within the context of historical resistance, and also the possibility of building community for antifascist futures.
The project seeks to identify and apply a specific performativity around radio broadcastings, including the creation of strategic hosting choreographies, occupation and intervention of public spaces, application-specific clothing/uniforms, flags and distribution of manifests and other documents, in the attempt to share and manifest radio broadcasting as a contemporary activistic art form.
